About the event

Interested  in learning more about sugar cookie decorating but not sure if you want to take on a full class? This mini class may be just for you! Perfect for adults with young kids or the beginner who's just wanting to test the waters of cookie decorting, this mini version of our typical class is only about an hour long and includes a smaller cookie kit and very beginner level designs/techniques. Easy enough for kids to follow along, but also great for adults wanting to try their hand at decorating.

You'll enjoy a fun afternoon spent learning a new skill with family/friends. Plus, you'll leave class with a set of beautifully decorated cookies and a good understanding of the basics of sugar cookie decorating.

Head below for more information on classes, cancellations/refunds, FAQs and add ons.

About this Class

This class is for the beginner cookier or the newbie who is just curious as to what sugar cookie decorating is all about. If you have limited experience with cookie decorating, want an experience the kids can enjoy too, or are just looking to have a fun time with family or friends, then this class is for you!

Everything for class will be provided including cookies, icing, decorating tools, and a box to carry home your creations. All we need is you!

This class will be held on Saturday, July 8 from 11am until approximately 12pm. This will give us ample time to decorate cookies and answer all your questions along the way. Bring a friend or bring the whole family! There's seating for up to 30+ people. Cookie decorating is a blast whether your with friends, family, or solo.

My typical cookie classes are recommended for ages 8+ BUT this class is specifically designed with youger kids in mind. If they can hold a piping bag, then they're sure have a blast!. However, if you'd prefer to leave the kids at home, add on a take home kit which includes all the materials needed to recreate the class cookies from home. After class you'll receive access to our instructional powerpoint and can teach the kiddos yourself from the comfort of your home. (See details about ording additional, take-home kits below.)

The class will be held at the beautiful Six-O-Eights Events Venue. The venue is located behind the Canoe House at 608 Broad Street. Parking is free and located in the ally way and overflow lot to the left of the building.

FAQ

Q. What will I be doing in class?

B-esides having an awesome time-you'll be learning the basics of sugar cookies and royal icing, and practicing some fun decorating techniques that you'll use to decorate your very own set of cookies you can with you at the end of class.

Q. Do you offer a virtual class?

-We currently aren't offering a virtual option for this particular class. We are, however, looking into offering virtual classes in the future.

Q. Can I purchase additional kits to take home?

-Of course! Want to practice on your own at home? Or do you have littles that you preferred not to bring to class? Grab a kit or two and recreate your cookie set from the comfort of your home. (See more info below)

Q. Do I need to know how to bake?

-Not at all! We do all the baking and prep work for you. You just show up ready to decorate some cookies! In case you're interested in upping your baking skills, we will briefly discuss my sugar cookie recipe (which you'll receive) and you're more that welcome to pick my brain about baking during or after class. : )

Q. Exactly what will I learn in class?

-You'll learn the basics of preparing sugar cookies and icing, the different consistencies of royal icing and why that matters, tips and tricks for coloring icing and using piping bags and other decorating tools, plus some basic decorating techniques like wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, royal icing transfers and more. Techniques will vary by class.

Q. What should I bring?

-The only thing you NEED to bring is yourself! But here are a few other suggestions:

  • Decorating can get messy. Make sure to wear easy to wash clothing or feel free to bring an apron if you prefer.
  • Classes take place in an enclosed space. If you're concerned about germs-feel free to wear a mask. We always refer to local guidelines where masks are concerned-so as of now, masks are completely optional and not required.
  • Bring your camera(phone). We will be taking pictures to share on social media and encourage you to do the same!

Q. What age is recommended for the class?

-This class is great for most any age! My only reccomendation is to ensure your child has the motor skills to hold a piping bag and the attention span to decorate for roughly 45 minutes to an hour. We will take plenty of wiggle breaks in between! Given that, you can decide if it's something your child would enjoy or if you'd prefer to bring them a take-home kit instead.

Q. Can my child take the class without me?

-Children will need an adult present to take the class with them. Due to limited space, we must insist that all attendees purchase their own ticket. So. sadly, your child can not be dropped off to take the class and they not participate in the class while you watch on. However, you can take the class with them OR take the class on your own and bring them a take-home kit. This way you can teach the class to them from the comfort of home!

Q. What will I bring home?

-You'll take with you your decorating kit which will include the cookies you decorated in class and all materials/tools used in class. You'll also be going home with a knowledge of basic sugar cookie decorating and access to my instructional Power Point used in class.

Q. Can I sign up with friends or a group?

-Of course! Sign up as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group-the more the merrier! However, space is limited, so make sure you sign up ASAP.

Q. I've signed up for class but can't make it. : (

-We understand that life happens! Please thoroughly review our cancellation and refund policies (located on the ticket page).
